In 2009, Northfield Savings Bank continued their funding for another three years to help Hunger Free Vermont expand the Hunger Council model to other areas of the state. With additional support from the Windham Fund, in 2011 the Hunger Council of the Windham Region was launched.

The Hunger Council of the Windham Region meets next on Wednesday, May 18th. (Press Release Here) The Council will be discussing ways to support and expand summer meal programs in the region, including programs in Springfield and Townshend which are facing some very serious challenges. The Council met last on March 16th. The Council was joined by representatives from 4 local senior organizations, and explored food security and ways to strengthen the safety net for this important population. The meeting agenda is available HERE and meeting minutes are available HERE.
